In the third quarter of 2025, the carpooling and ridesharing landscape in New Zealand saw significant activity across leading apps, as reported by Sensor Tower.

Bolt: Request a Ride experienced varied download numbers throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads started at around 9.4K in early July, showing a gradual decline to about 5.2K by the end of September. However, active users displayed a positive trend, rising from approximately 19K in early July to about 23.8K by the end of the quarter.

DiDi Rider: Affordable rides saw a steady increase in weekly downloads, beginning at 1.8K and peaking at around 9.1K mid-September. Active users also surged, growing from 11.7K to a notable 22.6K by the end of September.

Uber - Request a ride maintained a stable weekly download range from 5.9K to 7.4K. Active users fluctuated, with a peak of about 263K in mid-September, before settling at 225K by the end of the month.

Grab: Taxi Ride, Food Delivery exhibited a consistent weekly download rate, ranging between 2.1K and 2.5K. The app's active user base showed a steady increase, reaching 57.1K by the end of September.

Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver experienced stable download figures, averaging around 1.5K per week. Active users remained relatively constant, hovering around 24.8K throughout the quarter.
